Sahg - Sahg I

According to the myspace profile, Sahg sound like "primordial ooze erupting ungodly heavy metal!" According to everyone else on earth, they sound vaguely like Black Sabbath, which begs the question, did Sabbath sound like primordial ooze erupting ungodly heavy metal? I'm not sure. One thing I can say for sure is that Sahg is the only band that ever rotted my teeth, as I bought some of their mp3s off amazon.com using Pepsi points. Of course, amazon fucks you over by having album-only tracks, leading me to buy the actual CDs anyway.

Despite all the reviews calling this Black Sabbath worship and little else, I think there is some really good stuff here, though it took me some time to warm up to (especially the vocals, which are rather Ozzy-ish at times, but without the lack of enunciation). The guitars and bass are just fucking awesome though, and that's what made me buy the CDs, though I'd already bought most of the mp3s. The vocals grew on me eventually.

"Repent" is the best song here, in fact it is so great that it kept me from reviewing the CD for a while there, I just kept listening to it on repeat because I couldn't bring myself to listen to the rest of the songs. Pretty much the same thing goes for "Godless Faith." I could listen to it on repeat all day long. Both songs are perfect to the point of being incredibly distracting. The guitars in "The Executioner Undead" are pretty cool too. This is very groovy, fun stuff.
